We should try to restore quarries to either nature or agriculture as a preference over leisure. The natural environment is under huge pressure from the activities of man and many old quarries have become important SSSIs and nature reserves. Similarly agricultural land is constantly being lost to urbanisation and industrial development. In all cases restoration of quarry workings to either nature or agriculture should have an environmental/ecological restoration plan for land management. This must be both compulsory and inspectable.
